Fall fashion trends for the past couple years haven’t changed much, but for some once you feel that autumn breeze you know fall fashion is in the air. The leaves falling off the trees is always a sign fall is on the way. For the past couple of years the style of Y2K has come back stronger than ever. And has been noticed in fall fashion. We’ve got the Uggs which have been popular for a while, the chunky sweaters and jean skirts.
But how long have these clothing items been in style? Looking back in time the popular fall shoes Uggs were created in 1978 in Southern California by an Austrian surfer named Frank Morte. These shoes have never gone out of style, but it has been noticed that they have spiked in the early 2000’s and 2020’s.
Chunky Sweaters however have been popular since the 1970s. With a dramatic rise in the 21st century when they turned into a ugly Christmas sweater trend. People wear funny, ridiculous Christmas sweaters but they started to turn into cute sweaters.
”I love when I can find a cozy, fall sweater thrifting! They are usually super cute, great quality, and are a lot cheaper than buying a new sweater,”. Thrift Club member Maya Larson said..
Jeans skirts also have a pretty cool history behind them dating back to the early 1960s when people used their old denim clothing and would upcycle them into jean skirts. They also are a huge iconic part of the Y2k trends. With endless pairings with sweaters, basic tees, blouses and much more!
Many stores have fall fashion lines. These include GAP which has a section online called “The Fall Trend Edit”. The styles include tailored vests and pants, barn jackets, different kinds of skirts, cardigans, jeans and many more styles!
Hollister also has some fall styles similar to GAP but more targeted to teens. There’s a lot of off the shoulder sweaters, v necks, neutral colored sweatshirts and scoop necks. American Eagle has a fashion line featuring cute pumpkin snoopy stickers,
But when it comes to loving fall fashion and hating it, what does the community have to say?
“My favorite piece of fall fashion is probably a leather jacket,” freshman Sabine Carter-Doody (9) said.
Recently leather jackets have become really popular especially ones from Pac Sun and Edikted.
