Varsity Boys Basketball – The boys varsity team had three games this past week, resulting in one win and two losses. On Wednesday, December 2nd, the boys faced Highline at their home court in Burien in a non-conference game and won 67-61. On Friday, December 4th, the boys played their first home game of the season against the Garfield Bulldogs. Garfield, being nationally ranked, took down the Raiders handly, 96-46. Lastly, the squad played an away game in Puyallup this weekend, losing 82-46.

The Raiders next game will be Tuesday, against West Seattle at home.


Varsity Girls Basketball – This week the girls varsity team lost both games they played. One loss was to Lindbergh (9-36), and the other was to Ballard (3-67). In the game against Ballard, Victoria White had the most points on the team scoring two free-throws on separate trips to the free-throw line. The lady Raiders will play at Hale on Wednesday, against West Seattle at 7:30, and Friday at Rainier Beach at 6:30.


Boys Swim – The boys swim team had their first meet of the season at home against an experienced Lakeside team. Much of the boy’s swim team are new swimmers this year coming from cross country team, and this was the first meet they had participated in. The boys took first place in the 200 Yard Free Relay, the 100 Yard Butterfly and the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Lakeside won the meet, 121 to 48.

The boys next meet will be Friday, December 11th, against Seattle Prep at Meadowbrook CC.


Wrestling – On Thursday, December 3rd, the wrestling team had a Double Duel at Ingraham High School against Lakeside and O’dea. The boys team beat Lakeside, and came very close to beating O’dea, placing 2nd overall. On Saturday, the team headed to Washington High School in Puyallup to participate in the Patriot Dome Classic. Senior Martin Chavez won his weight class and Freshman Dominic Damon, who is showing postseason promise, got second in his class. Also, Junior Gunner Welsh tied for third in his class.

The wrestling team will be Tuesday, December 8th against West Seattle at West Seattle HS.


Gymnastics – This week the girls had their first meet at Roosevelt High School. The Raiders were joined by gymnasts from, West Seattle, Ingraham, and Roosevelt. Junior, Lily Hatzenbeler, placed second overall, and senior, Muirenn James, placed third overall. The Raiders are looking forward to the rest of the season and their next meet will be at Hale, Friday the 11th, at 4 against Holy Names and Ballard.
